  1. Has anyone tried TSCV with Sefy's SxVCD templates? They don't seem to work when making cue/bin files.

  2. I'm currently working with the developer of TSCV and we are working out all the bugs together! basicly SxVCD is not a standard, and TSCV doesn't support Non-Standard files very well, we will try to fix it, it's WIP

  4. Well, that's cause it only started happening yesterday! we are working together on improving TSCV and in the meantime i'm also making a Beginer's guide, which would hopefully be over soon, as i've finaly made a VCD with chapters (yay! my first one!) unfortunatly for some reason my Pioneer 525 didn't want to play (boo!), so it's still in the drawing board

  5. Thanks a ton Sefy for helping ttool with his fabulous program TSCV. I have just finished my first polished SVCD and here's what it has:

    - Intro MPEG Trailer
    - Intro Menu
    - ****Motion**** Main Menu
    - Main Movie with...
    - Selectable Chapter points using the numeric keypad or forward or next button
    - FF and REW both function beautifully

This program is absolutely the best. Beats I-Author hands down for functionality and ease of use. Now with Sefy assisting it can only get better. Thanks again!!

...is it due to the missing sequence header problem?

  7. i made an xsvcd at 352x480 and made chapters with tscv and it works fine, much easier that video pack or i-author

  8. Don't know about the SxVCD template but I've made a lot of xSVCDs and used TSVC without problem:

    704x480
    352x240
    480x480

But then again, I would say that everything worked flawlessly I had to change a few settings to generate the bin/cue files. My motion menu didn't loop, and I couldn't choose a chapter until it stopped playing. Once I slected a chapter I couldn't do anything (including stop the disc) until the movie finished.
But changing 2 lines in the preferences fixed that.

What WOULD be the correct way to multiplex SVCD ot VCD streams, to get the right timescale?

I'm almost positive that timescale/muxing has a LOT to do with TSCV/VCDImager's sucess at chaptering, menus, etc. My only sucess at this so far has been to remux SVCD with TMPGEnc (no, not bbMPEG, trying to spread the word)... then to have TSCV update scan offsets there. On my Apex, only this combo made the correct timescale, and allowed for all remote function (auto-play, numeric pad, chapters and GOTO search).

I've actually abandoned MPEG-1 for the time being, after getting some nice SVCD movies on 1 CD (new thread on that coming soon)...

But I'm thinking maybe VCD (SxVCD) works under a similar theory for mux/timescale???

  10. Hey Guys, sorry for keeping you in the dark for so long, basicly i've managed to create a VCD with Chapters that was playable on the PC, which reminds me, do NOT burn BIN images that were created with TSCV with Nero! that's why it didn't play on my DVD Standalone, i've burned using CDRWin (although i'm looking for a substitute cause it doesn't support 90min CDRs) and it worked on my DVD Player.

And by the way, it worked without me needing to Demux and the Mux again, it's just plain good old encoding with TMPGEnc, using the Closed GOP, and yes, i've also added the Detect Scene Changes, apparantly if you want to have the right entrypoints, you MUST have this selected, or atleast till I figure out how else to do it.

Um... maybe then no point in doing VCD with TSCV? On an Apex player, "Detect Scene Changes" in TMPGEnc is near fatal to the movie! EVERY scene slows down before the next!

And the "Closed GOP"... All I've heard anywhere is that it messes up quality...

  12. Well, like I said, it's still being tested to see what went wrong, i've also got a big problem with CDRWin, that it doesn't support and actually RUINS movies that are longer then 80min, I did find FireBurner v2.0.8 and that damn thing doesn't support my Burner!

So don't give up just yet, there are worse things right now then Chapters

If I'm not mistaken, VCD format (MPEG-1) does not have "scan offsets" which seem to be necessary for chaptering? Or am I off the mark?

Actually I can't get ANY of my SVCD movies to appear in TSCV's "Chapter" window, using either the media player, or the VFAPI plugin. SO basically, I have blind chapters if at all.

I have been able to do one LONG movie which supports auto-play, FF/RW and GOTO search. I tried a multi-track disc, but get cut-offs at the end of each clip, the next starts too soon! Oh, well...

I'll be glad once all the "bugs" are out of TSCV... your chapter bug, my track cut-off bug, other people's menu bugs... anyone have pesticide?

  14. If you are having trouble with your burning software, you might try this one:

    http://www.blindwrite.com

It understands the .bin/.cue format perfectly, and even does full speed burning for free.

  15. Oh and BTW, VCD is completely capable of supporting chapters. It's even in the Whitebook 2.0 spec.

Is that with or without "Closed GOP"?

Also... I am very sure that the track cut-off is VCDImager, not cdrwin. I have been told by others they have the same problem... so far the only solution is to add "0 data" at the end of each clip (black screen, no audio), but the only problem is I have no program to do it! Any feature like that in TMPGenc?

  17. kinneera, you sure about BlindWrite Suite ? cause I have it, if I had known it supports Cue/Bin, i'd be using that one instead, CDRWin is a piece of crap, and FireBurner is even a piece of that piece of crap.

homerpez, I have already successfuly made a VideoCD with Chapters, I even made two of them, i've made Dinosaur which is a 78min movie and the chapters work on every program i've tried and my Pioneer DVD player, unfortunatly my second movie which I did for my friend, was The Corrs Music DVD, and although I had absolutuly NO errors, the disc was a 86min. and I had to cut the last two tracks from the cue file, and although it works amazing on the PC, the Pioneer would loop without a picture if I press the back or next buttons on each of the chapters, if I let it play, it will play it all, so i'm relating that problem to CDRWin inability to burn correctly over 80min CDRs.

  18. Sefy: absolutely positive - I use it to burn all of my videoCDs, since its the most reliable way to do non-standard ones (in conjunction with VCDImager, of course). Just start BlindWrite, select the CD Writing Wizard, make sure it sees your recorder correctly, and load the .cue file (NOT the .bin file!).

Homerpez: I don't think the open or closed GOP setting has anything to do with ability to create chapters. I put chapters on ALL of my VCDs using VCDImager. One solution is to simply create a separate MPEG (.dat) for each chapter. You won't get smooth playback on chapter transitions if you do a beginning-to-end playback, but it works. Personally, I've had no problems doing single MPEG streams with entry points.

  19. I'll check it out, thanks for the information! by the way, latest TSC Beta 9 which is now released now has build-in support for CDRDao, which can do Overburning as well and supports most CDRW burners.
