  1. Hi

I have been having a good deal of fun converting avi and mpegs so that I can play them on my DVD player.

I have one avi file thats a bit to big to get on a CDR disk, even with overburing enabled.

Is there anyway I can reduce the quality of the images to reduce the end file size? I have reduced the sound quality to mono btw.

    Many thanks

  2. Before you reduce the quality why don't you just split the file in tmpgenc and burn onto two discs ?.

  3. I am so close to getting it on to one disk, i wondered if degrading the image quality could save me the few megabytes that i need...

I could then save the second disk

  4. If you select svcd from the tmpgenc wizard and then reduce the quality on the screen after you have inserted your file.

    How about that ?

  5. Righty I can give that a go certainly.

tho, I am a newbie (confession). On the turotial I have been following it says to ignore the wizard.

I will have to start taking some steps now into other areas.

  7. Just use TMPGEnc's Project Wizard. Select a format(VCD, SVCD, whatever). When you get up to the screen that shows you how much of the disc your movie will take up, select CD for media type and type in 100% where it says the %. TMPG will automatically calculate the bitrate it needs. Don't do it with a too long of a movie though, the quality gets really bad.
