  1. Hi!

I've got an irritating problem with TMPGenc.
I've tried to encode to divx(xvid) using TMPG. It was my intention to divide the file into three svcd files. No problems occurred with the first two parts, but when I was going to encode the last and third part of each( 2 movies) div x(xvid) the same thing happened. Early on it said that TMPGenc had run into a problem and had to be shut down.
What is causing this and what can I do about it?
    Getting really frustrated.
I've got xp by the way.
The correct settings for xvid have been made.
When I am going to encode it, the box saying "inverse telecine" is checked, if that has anything to do with it.
Would be greatful for some help.

  2. I don't know if this is relevant or not, but the div x file is 23.976.
If I uncheck the box saying "inverse telecine" it seems to be encoding, but I don't know what the end result would be?
The box is checked by default when I load this particular file, so maybe it is supposed to be that way, or what do you say?

I'd be very grateful for some help.

If the divx is 23.976 you don't need to inverse telecine. Inverse telecine takes a (telicine'd) avi at 29.97 and undoes the telecine, giving a video at 23.976 fps.

  4. I tried not to inverse the telecine, but Tmpgenc still crashed.
How come I can't encode the third and last part of a div x file(xvid), but only the first two parts?

I tried to remove the codecs in the control panel, multimedia etc, but after I have done it and restarted my computer they're still there.
Any idea what may be causing all this?? And what can I do about it?

    Desperate for some help

Prolly something's wrong in the third part of the AVI. Not uncommon (to say the least!) if the AVI is downloaded. Scan for, and remove bad frames with VDub. Guides for this under HOW TO.

  6. If you ask me xvid's bite. I am always getting this problem, the only way I have found round it is to re-rip the dvd or download the file again.

XviD is a very good video compressor - at least equal to DivX. The Windows decoder however leaves a lot to be desired. And keep in mind that there's new versions of XviD out almost every day!

  8. I agree it's good, the movies are always bang on. I just seem to get ten times more errors and other problems when it comes to xvid compared to divx

  9. Thanks for all your suggestions.

I'm afraid I can't find the appropriate guide on how to remove bad frames with virtual dub though. Do any of you know where I might be able to find it?

  11. I'm getting sick and tired of this.

I tried virtual dub mp3 to try and remove bad frames, but at the end of the file virtual dub crashes.

Help me someone, i've got heaps of files waiting to be converted.

  12. Well, I managed to check the frames in virtual dub after having installed what appears to be a new version of xvid. It had no bad frames.
I'm trying to run it in tmpgenc again to see if it had anything to do with the fact that I updated my xvid.
    I'll get back to you.
