  1. Here is my problem. I have made a large number of DVD's from my home movies to get them of the degrading tapes (no time to edit at the time I made the DVD's). Now that I have everything on DVD I'm now turning my attention to editing. I have preimere 6.5 and DVDiT 2.5 PE. I guess I need to convert the VOB files back to AVI's to edit them with preimere and then reburn them with DVDiT. What is the simpest way to convert the VOB's and is thier a loss of quaility associated with the convertion process. I did see that Ulead has a product (Movie factory 2) that claims can import VOB's edit them and then reburns them onto a DVD. Is this product any good for my purpose, not that I'm rich but at $49 can this be a good thing. Again I don't want to degrade the video quaility. By the way I read a post that claimed that you can copy your VOB's, rename them to Mpeg then import them into priemere. Take my word for it don't try this priemere does not like it!

Thank's for any help you guy's are the best!

    No loss of quality

You can demultiplex the vob's via VobEdit (if it's not in the TOOLS here it's at doom9.net)

The secondary issue you will face though is DVDit, makes all your movies into the same title set.

    DVDIt MyDVD ReelDVD DVD

    AUDIO_TS
    VIDEO_TS
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.VOB
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_0.VOB
    VTS_01_1.VOB Movie 1
    VTS_01_2.VOB Combined into Movie 2
    VTS_01_3.VOB Combined into Movie 3
    VTS_01_4.VOB etc

DVD via Maestro, DVD Producer, Scenarist (seperate Title Sets) missing some files - just showing general idea of it

    AUDIO_TS
    VIDEO_TS
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.VOB
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_0.VOB
    VTS_01_1.VOB Movie 1
    VTS_01_2.VOB Movie 1
    VTS_02_1.VOB Movie 2
    VTS_02_2.VOB Movie 2

If you only have 1 movie per disc, dpon't mind what I'm saying, but if you had lots of clips, when DVDit renders out the disc, it merges them into one long TS. An authoring program which uses seperate title sets, also ALLOWS you to mix and match Mpeg 1 and 2 source clips

VobEdit, will also let you split on TS cells as well. Very easy to use

Also, you can even load the vob into TMPG, and Demultiplex, but that can be hit and miss.

    Get VobEdit and your cool

  3. I downloaded Vobedit. Is there an instruction set some where couldn't find one at doom9 or Vobedit site. Tried to open VOB no problem, but when I tried to demux things got alittle confusing.
