I just got a Epson 960 printer that can print CDs and DVDs. Now I need to find some quality DVD-Rs that are inkjet printable.
I've seen some listed in searches, but would really like to hear some success stories.
Right now the two that are the best price are the:
Meritline: http://www.meritline.com/47whitprindv2.html
and the
Lead Data: http://www.dvdroutlet.com/cgi-local/shop.pl/SID=1049341714.4797/page=print.htm
Anyone have success with either of these?
I have a Sony DRU500a and have been using the ACCU disks from Meritline with great success.
Finally, can you pick up inkjet printable DVDs in any local stores or only through web orders?
Thanks!

Isn't the 960 wonderful
I just love the DVD/CD labeling software that comes with it. Anyway, I get dupEZ from RIMA.com for $85 per 100. They work great but the funny thing is that I have been getting mixed batches of Lead Data and Sony. Doesn't matter which it is because both brands work great but it is just strange that there are 2 different media ID's in the same cake of 100.

I'm going to placing my order for the 960 tomorrow. I was going to do it two weeks ago but then I heard that some were shipping without the CD adapter or whatever it's called and you had to send in or mail for that from Epson. Where did you buy your 960?

Yeah, the 960 is pretty great. I've printed a few CDs with sticky labels and it looks fantastic. I'm itching to do some DVDs.
I make DVDs as a side business so I've got to be sure that the media I use is stable. These RIMA disks are pretty good? Have you had success in multiple players? I've only ever ordered from Meritline and haven't hear of RIMA before.
Bob - I picked my printer up at a local Micro Center. They had 5 of them and only one had the sticker on the outside indicating it came with the CD/DVD labeler. -
Rima.com is a site, not a brand of discs and I already commented on how stable the discs were.
I got my 960 from Amazon.com and the DVD tray is included. Cost was $308 shipped after applying $10 coupon. -
SeargentD or others who have this printer,
Is the print quality on the disc comparable to commercial dvds?
Does the printer print fully on the face of the disc all the way up to
the center?
If so, I might have to definitely get this printer.

What happens to the printed side if it gets wet (after the ink is fully dry)?
I don't have a bad attitude...

What is great about this is the software that allows you to take the CD label and adjust it over any JPEG (zoom in or out) so that the CD is covered in that image or your desire. -

Ok from what I gather this topic is regarding the Blank DVDs that can have the label printed directly onto them; no paper required, right?
I'm using OPtodisc DVD-Rs and I liek them very much. These have a "Blank" unbranded surface, I'm still loking for a printer though (Probably Epson) that can print inkjet "labels" directly onto the DVD, without the use of Peel and Stick labels, you kow the kidna that fly off in your burner if they're of poor quality.
I bascialy need to know what kinda of printer I should use for these DVDs, but if what your askingis what typeof DVD-R is reliable witha printable surface, I'd say optodisc. I haven't printed onto one yet but burning is fairly stable and better than the more recent Memorex Discs which are now making good $5 coasters. -
Ok. Yeah I didn't think it would look as good as a commerical DVD, but I don't want it to look like shit either. I wish I could see a sample of a disc that was printed off this printer.

I have found a better price for printable DVD-R for Sony DRU-500A:
Lead Data DVD-R
- 1X white printable DVD-R, this is also compatible to ACCU DVD-R.
Ritek DVD-R
- 1X price but 2X speed with Sony DRU-500A firmware 1.0f only. Ritek is one of the best quality among the unbranded DVD media.
good luck! =) -
Well, I got the dupEZ disks from RIMA today and tried them out.
They are SONYs, BTW.
I have 2 DVD players that I do my testing in. One is about 5 years old and the other is a year old.
Everything plays in the newer one and my old one is used as a "feel good" tester. If it plays in that one, then I'm pretty confident about sending them out to clients.
These disks did not play in my older player. Every ACCU disk I've ever burned has played in it fine, but these would not.
That concerns me a bit.
They work fine in the newer player though.
So I sent my client 5 printable disks and I burned 3 ACCU ones as I know those work for him. I'm anxious to hear if the printable ones work for him.
