    I have the LTD-165H($44 at googlegear.com free 2nd day shipping)and it rips at 7.5x.Nexthardwareshop.com wants $26+$43 for 2nd day delivery.

    IF you really want a DVD-ROM drive cheap, try to find someone who is throwing out a regular DVD player and get it and remove the DVD-ROM drive. You might still need to borrow the front plate from an old CD-ROM drive though.

    Laserdiscs are cool, but laserdiscs on DVD-Rs are cooler.

    Standalone DVD players have regular, computer DVD-ROM drives in them. Understand?

    A few models have been noted to in the past, but its not a standard by any means. They usually have special hookups and cables and such. Not really a good idea. Just get a liteon, they are cheap and work well.

    i just took apart my new Pioneer 5 disc DVD changer, but my computer case isn't wide enough to mount the damn thing in a drive bay! j/k
    Laserdiscs are cool, but laserdiscs on DVD-Rs are cooler.

    I had the same problem with my Teac reel-to-reel because I wanted tape backup.
