  1. I was wondering what is the best SVCD encoder? I've been using TMPGenc for encoding my SVCD's and I make it so it will fit onto 2 700mb CD-R's. When I do this in TMPGenc, I try to make each part about 680MB. It say's its only using 87% of the CD-R. If I increase the bitrate so that it's at 100% of the CD, the size is 720MB. Will this fit on a CD? TMPGenc says it will?

Also, how can I extract 5.1 audio from a DVD and make it into a .wav file and put it with my .d2v file in TMPGenc? Will my Dolby Digital/DTS decoder on my stereo reciever be able to play it?

it never tells me anything about whether it will fit on a disc. you can fit 800mb on a (s)vcd disc.

dvd2avi converts the ac3 sound off a dvd to a wav file.

CCE is the best SVCD encoder besides TMPGEnc. Also, 720MB will fit on a CD-R(W) as a CD-R(W) is able to hold up to 800MB. Here's a guide on Data Capacity's of CD-R:

  6. But, how would I make a .wav file with 5.1 channels. When I use DVD2AVI it only puts it out with 2 channels. What option would I use? Also, will TMPGenc accept AC3 files?

there is a way someone has said before. its using cooledit to make a multitrack session then mix it down into a convincing sounding wav file.
