hi, i heard some people posting here about the speed of 42 process on their machines is about 7 hours +- svcd mode. they have g3, imac dv, and others... mine is an emac 700 mhz, 384 mb, os 10.2.4. i use 42 svcd custom rate, and no vbr, and the process takes about 12 hours or more on 1:30 and 2 hours movies... how can this be possible, i guess my g4 is faster than the others mentioned above, so why mine is slower... is because of the amount of ram or something else?
any ideas?

I dont think the problem is with the ram. I've got an eMac 700 640Mb and takes about 17 hours on a 2 hour movie. SVCD with out custom rate.
Someone please help us!!!!!!!!!!!The Filth and the Fury -
They must have like 30-70 min movies.
On my iMac 800, it takes about 7 hrs for a 90 min, if i have no other programs running. 42 is sort of a big processor hog. My recommendation,
Start converting the movie 1 hr before you go to sleep, that way if u dont like whats happeneing u can change it.
hope this helps

It could be an eMac specific problem
Anyone else have an eMac that uses 42 - post your speeds for DVD to SVCD
I have Dual 1.25 and for 100 min of video it takes 4.5 hours -
I got an Imac Superdrive and it took me nine hours for a movie of 90 minutes. Eventually I ended up with a 960 Mo ISO file that I could not burn simply because of it size.
I was lucky anyway because I started the process before I went to sleep. In the morning it was almost over.KEEP FAITH
