Looking through different threads and forums its hard to distinguish what drives are capable of what when it comes to ripping because many do not list specific models if they are having success. Since I am in the market for a drive I thought maybe I could enlist the help of the fine members here to see what experience people have had with theirs. Here is the info I think would be helpful.

More than 50 rips with Smartripper with no errors and then 5 garbage rips in a row on Stargate episodes. Switched to DVDDecrypter and happy for now.

How fast (low and peak) does it rip? 2x on most movies... up to 14x on bootlegs and unlocked movies (just ripped bootleg of Chicago at 9x average!
Or is it Locked at 2X? Yes.. but only on non-bootlegs
Do you get errors with ripping programs: almost never... i will get errors sometimes on my liteon 16x dvdrom and this guy will read right through the errors. (liteone 16x is not locked at 2x)
