  1. I just bought the Sony DVD±RW Drive DRX500ULX so that I could have the choice of burning plus or minus dvd's or cd's but I was wondering what would be best??

If I was going to make a lot of DVDs of our home movies to pass around to LOTS of family members to see.....
    Which format would be best?
I use Movie Factory 1.0 to burn my dvd's cuz it worked the best so far

My initial DVD burner only did DVD+R discs & they played great on our GoVideo home DVD player but when I sent it to my cousin in california that has played shows fine that were recorded on dvd before by other people....she could not play mine. She said it said "disc error".

Why did that happen and what can I do to make it more compatible for everyone??
How come people sell discs on the web with shows or whatever they recorded and know it's going to work for everyone that buys it & I can't even get mine to work for my family....but it always looks & works great on my home player??

    Heeeeelp please

You may want to find out what kind of player your cousin has. It may be able to play DVD+R and not DVD-R, or vide versa. Once you find out what kind she has, see if it is loaded in the DVD player database at left.
    Hello.

  3. Erica:

Also, make sure you apply the patch to DVD Movie Factory 1 to make sure you can burn to DVD+R. The following link has a list of DVD Movie Factory 1 patches for download:

    Erica,

Like Tommyknocker already said, it's important to know if your cousin's dvd player suports the +R and / or the -R format.

DVD-R is a non-rewriteable format and it is compatible with about 88% of all DVD Players and DVD-ROMs

DVD+R is a non-rewritable format and it is compatible with about 84% of all DVD Players and DVD-ROMs

You can check the dvd player here:

    Good luck,
