ffmpeX is holding me

I'll keep posting until I get an answer.
I'm using ffmpegX (with last binaries correctly installed). Every time I'm trying to auhtor a VIDEO_TS file from a VOB file I'm ending up with a 1.5 Go file and not a proper 4 Go file.
No need to say I've made numerous tries, checked and unchecked almost everything thing.
I've made three clean install and tried with another VOB file. Without any luck.
The authoring is amazingly slow.
Does anyone already have this problem ?
I must underlined that I've made plenty of DVD-5 and Divx thanks to ffmpegX. The pb seems to be new and I would like to understand from where it stems from.

Are you only authoring or also encoding (if so, are you using "mplayer decode" option)?

also encoding with mplayer decode option checked.

There is an issue with quantizer control and mplayer decode. I'm fixing it in 0.0.6h to be released within about one week.
