  1. why is it that if i attempt to burn an uneditted mpeg2 file and nero checks out the file everything checks out ok. but if i edit the mpeg2 file(say cut it down to 50 min.), then when nero checks the file is says it needs to reencode it. so when i click reencode it says i have to buy their mpeg2 plugin. yet i can go straight to burn cd option with an uncut mpeg2 file??
    do you follow me?

If You edit SVCD compliant MPEG2 file in TMPGenc make sure You select "MPEG2 Super Video CD" under "Type" not "MPEG2 program"

VirtualDub is made for accepting AVI files and editing them. Matter of fact, it's the best AVI editing program out there.
