very interesting article, but I think Roxio's making a big business mistake. First, Napster is yesterday's news, and when Roxio does relaunch it will probably be crap, just like Roxio's burning software. There are too many sites right now which make Napster look like child's play. Roxio is negotiating with these record companies and are going to have to inevitabley pay millions to them in order for the RIAA to allow Napster to exist. My prediction is that when Roxio launches the rebirth of Napster, it will have a very early funeral.

Roxio Toast Titanium is a great burning software. So I know they do make good products.

To me, their software is garbage for that. I feel burning software should be able to handle all formats equally as great to be considered excellent. -
When I went to college in 98 and napster first came out... it was pure bliss... I was able to get almost any song I want... with no strings attached!
The BS music downloading apps they got now come with advertisements, spyware, and are jus simply not as accurate as napster.
Napster was so great man... the only thing that comes close to Napster is audiogalaxy's new program called rapsody but that cost's money.
I miss napster -

Have you tried Easy CD Creator or Videopack? One false move and windows doesn't see your drives any more.....time for a format and fresh OS install. Happened 3 times before I junked them and moved to Nero. Best thing I ever did (until Nero goes wrong.......).

Napster was great 2 years ago, when it was last up and online. Since then Kazaa and WinMX have come out beating Napster in every single way.
The main advantages of Kazaa and WinMX is the ability to download any sort of file (be it movies, music, software, pictures, documents, ...) and you can resume downloads. I can remember the frustration using Napster after waiting and waiting to download a song (then I only had a 56k modem) you'd find that the person who your getting it off would cancel it, or for some other reason it would fail, and you'd have to start all over again. In Kazaa or WinMX you can just hit the resume button and start from wherever you were before the download failed.
And Kazaa and WinMX are free. Why is anyone going to pay for Napster, when they can get something much better for free!
Get Kazaa at www.kazaa.com (with adware and spyware). KazaaLite www.kazaalite.com apparently has no adware but I've never tried it.
Get WinMX at www.winmx.com. I don't think it has any adware or spyware, but it's not as easy to use as Kazaa.
