    I capture .avi using DV Type 1 selection in iuVCR. Premiere HATES these .avi files. I use Premiere to edit out commercials and then convert to MPEG.

    Found that if I use dvconverter, Premiere is ok with the type 2 files.

    Any way to:

    1. Make iuVCR have a 'type 2' choice
    2. or Make Premiere settings that can handle the Type 1?

    DirecTV ---> CanopusADVC100 ---> Athlon 2200+

    install a different DV codec and you won't have to convert. do a search for "adaptec DV Soft". that's what i use with my ADVC100.
    Laserdiscs are cool, but laserdiscs on DVD-Rs are cooler.

    I use Scenalyzer with an ADVC-100 as well as a couple of Sony DV devices. You have a choice of Type 1 or 2 DV. I use Type 2. I even have a timer for controlling the start/stop of the capture. Works in Premiere as well as Vdub. You can frameserve from both. For simple stuff, like just editing out commercials, I would recommend Vdub--it's free and a lot quicker in the frameserve. Overall, Scenalyzer is a great piece of software in my opinion. See the Tools section. Recommend it highly.

    does the timer come with Scenealyzer, or is it separate? That's what I want more than anything out of life right now, a good DV-to-AVI capture tool that has a timer. It's why I bought iuVCR.

    No, the timer is not part of Scenalyzer. I use a macro program called MacroMagic to control Scenzlyzer and the Windows Task Scheduler to control the actual start/stop capture times. I am preparing a guide that I hope to post shortly.
