  1. Is there any limit to the number of times a DVD+RW can be re-written? I recorded a home video, did some editing after watching it on a tv, and re-wrote it to the same disc. It hit a spot about 11 minutes into the video that wouldn't play -- the picture froze. It worked fine in my computer drive.

Also, how do you recommend removing finger prints from DVD+RW media? Do you find that these discs are more susceptible to freezing due to fingerprints than other types of DVDs (including pre-recorded movies)?

  2. To clean media I use a solution of 10% Isopropyl alcohol with water in a spray bottle which I lightly spray on the disc then wipe off with a very soft lint free felt like cloth always wiping from the center of the disc outward.

As for erase times I have heard you should be able to erase and record at least 1000 times. Perhaps you just had a bad burn and that was the source or the skips or freeze you had. I had a bad burn one time because Norton SystemWorks decided to do an automatic update in the middle of a DVD burn so now I close all programs down before I start a project.

  3. Thanks. I never heard of a "bad burn", but I guess that's what I had, since I reburned the same disk last night and it worked fine.

Do you have an opinion on Windex? I know it's officially bad, but it is convenient and seems to work.
