Hey I want to buy a dvd writer for my desk top computer and I want to use Instant copy (because of the cheap price).
Now the problem is that my desktop is only 400mhz and that would take way to long to convert a dvd to dvd-r. However my laptop is 1.8 and I am trying to figure out if I set up a network will I be able to convert the movie on my laptop then put it in a shared folder and burn it with my desk top.
The reason I ask this question is because I was not sure if I can use programs through the shared folders. I have only used the network connection to transfer files between the computers. The other reason is because I haven't used instant copy, and I think Instant copy is an all-in-one program.
Thanks in advance

You would have to install the program on your laptop and just share the files. Why not go for an external DVDR?

DUMB Network Question....

vcd4me,
this is pretty easy to handle..
#1, use dvd decrypter to create an iso of the dvd you want to encode and put the iso in a shared folder on your slow computer
#2, install daemon tools (daemon-tools.com) on your fast computer, mount the iso file from the shared folder on your slow computer
#3 use instacopy to encode that bitch, and you can either save it on your slow computer (in another shared folder) or save it on your fast computer and then transfer the files to your slow computer later..
i've done this plenty of times.. mainly so i could use my slow machine with all the drive space and let the fast computer encode (with not as much drive space)..
good luck. -
Thanks Bumstead & jeex ,
I was hoping it was that easy I just wasn't sure if the instant copy just did all the work and it didn't save any files. I did look at the guide for instant coy so I now understand a little more about how the program works
Bumstead,
I thought about an external drive but the price is too high besides the Cendyne internal dvd-recorder is only $169-189 after rebates from staples or office max.
