  1. Using Nero 5, how can I burn a VCD with autoplay? I followed all the steps and it burned a compliant MPG1 fine (no problems with the .MPEG encoding check). In the Burn Screen, it was set to AutoRun=YES. It didn´t play automatically, though. It didn´t even create a autorun.inf file or the .exe that would run the recently created .DAT file. Should it? All the other files seem to be there, in the respective folders. Do I have to provide the player and autorun file or does Nero do it for me?

Thanks for any input on that.

  2. Open your DVD software player and then insert the CD, it will play automatically

  3. Yeah, I know. But then it is no longer automatic. I`ve seen it on another VCD and could not replicate it. The MPEG ran using a Microsoft player and graphic interface. Checking in the explorer, the file (player.exe) just had "VCD Application" as the company name.

Furthermore, this is intended for people who don`t have DVD softwares. It is for dummy clients who will just receive the VCD and try to put it in the CD-ROM device. It has to work even if the guy has no brain cells at all... Any clues?

  4. well , the last tip is not so good
you have to make a few slight changes
    to make it work

    just leave out the start

  5. Thanks all.

You were right, it didn´t work alright. The Media Player did the job, but complained about the Frauenhof codec. Perhaps because I am using Win ME it helped him fail, too.

What I was wondering now is how does the whole thing work. I mean, nobody ever answered me that: when Nero or Adaptec say they make VCDs, even with Autorun (like Adoptec 5 says he does), do they really? Cause I noticed they don´t create the autorun.inf or the executable. So I have to provide them then?

And which to use? Is there any freeware MPEG/VCD player I can provide with the VCD to make it play my MPG, in case the client doens´t have MEdia Player or the latest codec? Because I figured I had to attach an executable player and tell autorun.inf to run the player. And if so, is there programming involved when telling this specific player to play my video? Will it read the original .MPG or the .DAT file?

any clues on that would be a life (and a great deal of time) saver.

    Thanks a lot.
