  1. I'm interested in a TV capture card. Most of the high end stuff is either too expensive or built into video cards. I heard this TV capture/tuner card is suppose to be good, capturing very high quality video. I'm looking for something to capture SVCD quality. It probably doesn't support 480x480 capture but there is always a way around this, like for instance using 3rd party software. A similar work around was done for the ATI TV capture cards, but I don't like them.

So to those who tried it, how is the capture quality? I havn't seen any reviews for this, but I would love to see a screenshot of the capture so I could compare the quality with some other cards I have seen.

  2. There's Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250 and 350 ATI and Dazzle. I use the Dazzle 2 and I love it. If you want the Dazzle 2 go this this website http://stop.at/dazzle2 to check if it work's on your mother board

    hi valcan4d,

Don't forget.. that "high quality" will depend on the source you feed into
the card i.e., from lowest to highest.. Anttena vs. Cable vs. Satalite vs. DVD

If you're searching for a card for highest quality, and are planning to use
w/ either Anttena or Cable, you may be slightley dessapointed. Wont really
matter how high a resolution you go either. If your source is crummy, so
will your captures - no matter what resolution.

So given the above, even an ATI-TV Wonder or WINTV-GO card will do
just fine. I've used both, and they have given me good captures as well
as noisey captures pending a few hardware related issues i.e.,

Motherboard vs. Chipset vs. House-hold related influences and Environment etc.

Well, after 2 plus years of wrestling w/ many capture cards, and
trying many cards I finally stopped at the ADVC-100. The DC10+ comes
in at 2nd. All everything else pretty much produces some form/level of
Noise in your captured source. And, the level of Noise will depend on Fig. A

But in your case, as a begginer, an ATI or WINTV or other capture card in
the $100 or less range will do well for you.

You only next hurdle will be working out the Motherboard/Chipset/IRQ issues
    with these cards.

Good luck w/ any card you choose.
