Hey Guys. I used Premiere to edit my movie that I "captured" via firewire from my DV player. Then, I encoded it into an mpeg2 using CCE's premiere plugin. I think the settings were, 8000MAX, 2000MIN, 6000AVG for the bit rate. Then, I imported the mpeg into Ulead Dvd Workshop 1.0 and added chapter points and I did some other stuff(added menus) and since I can't get DVDWS to stop re-encoding my DVD compliant files, I just let it encode and burnt the product onto a Ritex @ 4X using RecordNowDX (I asked DVDWS to make a VIDEO_TS folder) and then burnt that.

Now, initially, I thought I had a coaster because the audio wasn't playing back on my Samsung M301 standalone. However, after browsing this forum, I read that I should change the audio settings on my DVD player. So I did and VOILA, it worked. The quality of the reencoded mpeg is so so. It looked better before it went into DVDWS. (BTW, I'm been reading the forums about how I might be able to get DVDWS to stop reencoding and I've tried everything and it doesn't work) Anyways, this plays ok on my standalone and I can skip to the next chapter by hitting my " >>| "
button but when I try to "fast-forward" through my movie using the " >>" button, it says that I can't perform this task. I can ordinarily(on DVDs I haven't authored) skip upto sppeds of like 132X during the movie.

I could even go upto 4X fast-forwarding when I was making VCDs of my home videos.

What can I do to make my DVDs have the "fast-forward" property?

    Cheers and thanks in advance.

  2. I've had that fast forward problem on DVD's I've made that only have one chapter. Try adding a few chapters. Worked for me.

  4. You should try the following:

    1) Use the MPEGsequenceMaker utility in the tools section or
    2) Encode with closed GOPs
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

Hey Kitty. I'll try that thanks.

I do have some more input though. When I burnt my newest home video onto DVD using the same process, I could skip through. EVERYTHING is the same. Wierd!
