@Red Lion
I use DVD2DVD-R with CCE for ripping & encoding, DVDMaestro to author and then Nero to burn.
For me this has given the best results with most flexability. BUT... And I am sure that many will agree. DVD2DVD-R has been troublesome. There have been lots of audio sync issues for NTSC DVD's since version 1.3.5. It looks like they may have been fixed in the latest releases, but it is too early to tell.
I look forward to playing with some other software, but time only lets me play so much. My backups are only the movie. No subtitles or extras unless they are needed like LOTR. So any software I play with has to be able to remove all the extra crap.
What does everyone else think. Curious minds want to know, but like the man said. No fighting.

red_lion,
That works if you want to keep just the main movie.
Pinnacle InstantCopy is good if you want to keep all the extras plus main movie.
ArrogantBastard,
Have you tried importing the Script into Scenarist Yet??.. It's finally working. -

encoding i use TMPGenc, authoring i use Maestro, burning NERO.
It really depends on what you want. If you need more authoring power I highly recommend Maestro, although it is a little less user friendly than other progs. If your burning program isnt working for you, I would also reccommend NERO. Many people report problems with NERO, but if you grab the latest version from their website itll be ok.
If what you are doing works, then just keep using it.
Like they say if it aint broke dont fix it. -
I use DVD Decrypter and Instant Copy to backup DVDs.
It takes around 2 hours, but it is well worth it.
The image quality is very, very good and instant copy gives you the option to remove audio tracks, subtitles, and reduce the size of the "extras", leaving more room for the main movie.
I also use DVD Workshop for authoring home movies from a DV camcorder and it has worked better than the other "bargain" (by bargain I mean the sub $300 software) authoring software I have tried.

I use DVD Decrypter, DVD2ONE, and nero. There are so many people complaining about different problems with different software/hardware/media that if I have learned anything from this site its stick to what works for you and don't let anyone else tell you that something doesn't work on your computer when you know that it does. Just because someone else couldn't figure it out doesn't mean that it wont work for you. I like these programs for me because they're extremely easy to use, the quality is pretty good, they were cheap (or free), and they work. I think that they only place that there is controversy is with DVD2ONE. Some say Instant Copy is better, others say it's not. I could really care less because I'm happy with what I've got and if what you have works for you and what you're trying to do, then stick to it.

InstantCopy 7 and DVD2one are for Newbies... just couple of clicks and you have your backup... that is cool
But for advanced users there is CCE which do VERY good quality. IC7 and DVD2one do terrible quality if the movie part is Big and desent quality if the movie part is SMALL...
I know that every one here who owns the DVD2one or IC7 would say "no way it do GREAT quality for me" but the truth is it's not doing great quality... 8) -
If time is important to you then use what you are using right now, but if you can have your computer sit around for HOURS or overnight then programs like DVD2DVDR and CCE are great programs and don't forget DVDxCOPY its theonly one that will do a true 1:1 copy, no transcoding or reencoding doen, but DVD9's will take 2 DVDR's to produce a backup.

I think out of the 3 progs that im using(DVD DECRYPTER, DVD2ONE AND RECORDNOW MAX) DVD2ONE seems to be the one everybody likes\hates but i will only find out how good it is when i try something else
thanks for your input -

do also use SVCD2DVD (very underated) with CCE
& if i have used SVCD2DVD i'll use IFOEdit .95 to author
Recordnow max 4.10 to burn.
Dvd2one & IC7 - jury still out as i don't think i have burnt or watched enough of my backups as yet and some people are getting a lot of skipping & freezing with Dvd2one.The few i have watched have played with no problems but as soon as any skipping or frezzing starts then it will be back to SVCD2DVD for me....
