Ok let me run this down best as I can cause its kinda been a long few days.
Problem: Only about 1 in 5 burns can be read entirely using Ritek media (dont have any others to test with yet but will test Verbatims soon) I've been using this media for a very long time now. Some disk start fine then pause and skip alot on every player I've tried (Classic media problem right? So I thought at first but it starts in random areas of the disk not just late... sometimes only half way though an hour and ahalf movie that takes only about 3.5gbs), others will not even read on my or others settops (Disk error), every once in a while one works fine. I'm using the same software I always have with the same methods I always have. OH YEAH! Once I put a disk in and tried to burn and got a message "failed at 1x" so I put the exact same disk back in and it appeared to burn fine, but when I tested the disk not even the burner could read it back!
What I've done to try to fix the problem: Got more ritek media from a friend to make sure the end of my like cake box wasn't bunk. I've also downgraded my firmware (v1.40 +Ritek 2x) and put the offical Pionneer one back on to see if that helps.
I've used NERO for a long time and had no problem but I did upgrade versions after I reformatted recently so I tried downgrading and found now help. I plan to test REcordnow Max later tonight.
What I have yet to do? Burner sits in an external Firewire case and always has (yes its cooled properly) a week from now I can take it over to a friends house with a working setup just like mine, including external case, and try there. Also I could possibly take it internal, but that would be ALOT of work (you'd have to see my current setup)
Basicly I Just want to see what you guys think... could my trusty A04 be dying?Anyway I'm very tried now and going to sleep so thanks for putting up through my rambling if you've gotten this far.
