  1. OK, this is probably something easy but it has kicked my tail so far.
I use Premiere to edit my videos. I usually have a wav or mp3 file for the audio track in Premiere. I edit my movie, export it to avi and everything is fine. I can view that avi and the picture and sound are great. But, when I then convert the avi to mpeg (VCD/SVCD) using TMpeg, the sound is really bad. I tried using tooLame and the sound is better but still bad. Here is what I have to do to get around it:

    1. I export my movie from Premiere.
    2. I export my audio from Premiere as a separate wav file.
    3. Using TMpeg with tooLame, I choose the file from step 1 as the video source and the wav from step 2 as my audio source.

And all is well after I do all that junk. I would rather not do all that junk though.

    Thanks for any help,
    TheNob

  2. Hi TheNob,
perhaps you will give the premiere frame server a try (get it from www.videotools.net linked on the left side unter tools). I'm using it with UVS and never had any problems like yours.

  3. What sample rate is the audio in your avi and what format are you converting to?

If you need to do any sample rate conversion, try using ssrc.exe in TmpGenc (same way you use toolame) to do this.

    Hope this helps

Yep. TMPGenc is not good at audio resampling. Under the Environmental Settings ( OPTION | ENVIRONMENTAL SETTING), go to the 'External Tool' tab. Put a check in the 'Sample Frequency Converter' checkbox, and browse to the SSRC.EXE file (You'll need to download it from the TOOLS section to the left). You can also use an external encoder, but I've found that TMPGenc is fine at encoding...it's just resampling that it sucks at.
Impossible to see the future is. The Dark Side clouds everything...

  5. Thanks guys. I've got ssrc now and I'll give it a try. I'll also give framserving from Premiere a look too.
