  1. I am having a weird problem here. I used DVDBackup to extract the VOBs for the Evild Dead 2 DVD. it has both the widescreen and fit-to-tv versions. I just extracted the VOBs that have the wide screenn version.

I tested them all out in mplayerOSX and have no problems viewing them. However, when I tell Apple's DVD Player to open the VIDEO_TS folder, it says there is no media found there! I even attempted to burn the VOBs in the VIDEO_TS folder using Toast and my set-top says it cannot play the DVD. I have extracted a number of DVDs and burned them with Toast with no issues.

    Any ideas?

Could be a region free issue. There are many PC tools to "REGION FREE"
the IFO files in your video_ts..
    AS FOR MAC?
ALSO DID YOU USE udf OR another file system..
DVD's must have udf TO WORK IN A SETTOP

I am using a Mac here...I did not say that but I posted on a Mac forum.

I did remove the region encoding to make it region free. However, I just extracted the VOBs. I do not need the menu system; I just want the movie. Can one burn just the VOBs without the menus? I could have swore that this was the case.

I was using Toast which has a 'DVD' setting. This burns a UDF formatted DVD, or at least, it is supposed to....

    Thanks for the reply,

    NO,
YOU NEED THE IFO FILES TO TELL THE PLAYER WHICH VIDEO_TS TO
    PLAY..
Even if no menu comes up, you need the ifo which says play
and additionally it tells the playr what region and aspect to use (EG 4X3 OR 6X9)

Use osex to rip the DVD as a single stream (VOB). Then use extractor or bbdemux to demultiplex the streams. Use sizzle to recombine them and there you go. (ifo and everything) Burn the image Sizzle gives you.
