  1. Hello, is there a scart-adapter which allows me to take an S-VHS signal out of a SCART connector and take it to my tv-tuner s-vhs input ?

I've seen some scart adapters with S-VHS and 2 audio rca-connectors but they said they are inputs :S or am I being silly now.... (I guess I'm a typical newbie at capturing)

If your video source is a S-VHS VCR, you can use a passive SCART->S-Video converter.Otherwise you'll need an active one.
Using a passive converter will give you only a B&W picture, as standard VHS VCR cant produce the chrma signal.
But with some electronic equipment, it's possible to get the chroma and luminance siglas (S-Video signals) out of RGB.You can even get S-Vdeio out of composite, but IMHO that's not the point, because this is not better than the original signal.

  3. Hmm...my vcr has a scart and a regular coaxial antenna connection...should I just settle for capturing from the coaxial..what other options do I have?

You shouldn't use the antenna connection. If your VCR doesn't have a RCA coax video out (quite unlikely), get a SCART->RCA (composite) converter. This should always work. But beware, there are 2 kinds of them:video-in and video-out.You need video out.

  5. Okay, thanks for the advice.

I was just wondering about the use of s-vhs since according to a guide
I had it promised best quality after the scart connector (antenna being worst) I guess I can live with using composite. Cheers !
