  1. Is it possible to get rid of the annoying chapters in DMF2? It is like the software forces this option down my throat and there is no way for me to remove it. The only way to get around this is to NOT create a menu.

    Any ideas?

What do you mean exactly. Once you import the mpeg file in, it only creates a menu with one play item. If you don't want a menu, make the mpeg the first play item, then it goes straightinto the mpeg file when played. It will not create chapters unless you make them through adding chapter points, no chapter points, no menus (other than the first one as described before).

  3. Exactly what I don't need. That thumbnail is never positioned exactly where I want it. I don't even have a need for it. I want a VERY basic menu. Something DVDIt is good for but it won't recognize my mpeg2 file. For example, one background, background music and a play button would suffice.

A response to a posting about this at the ULEAD website indicated that they were looking at correcting the issue of always needing a main menu with submenus. It would at least make this equivalent to MF1 if that version did what you want.

  5. That's disheartening seeing as how I purchased both DVDIt and MF2 and neither will do what I want.

More basic than one thumbnail or none?? Do you want a menu with what on it? If you don't want a menu just make the movie first play. If you have multiple files, then a basic menu is created with a thumbnail for each clip.If there are no chapter points then you only have a play item for ech clip. Maybe I don't understand what you are trying to do, and what the material is that you are trying to put on a DVD. You can customise the layout and frames/buttons using the supplied templates, there are a lot of different layouts, thumbnail sizes etc.

DMF2 is much more flexible than DMF1, but there is always room for improvement.

  7. That's just it. I don't want a thumbnail. I just want a simple play button on my menu with some background music

With a little creativity, you can author a very pleasing DVD with MF2 for just one movie. What I do is view the mpeg in WinDVD and capture at least two pics to serve as my background images. In MF2 I select the template with three thumbnails (One large and two small). This template serves as my main menu. I use one captured image for this menu. I click on the thumbnail and select any scene for the thumb. The title for the flick goes on top of the main menu and underneath the thumb, I just call it Chapters or Scene Selection. I hit customize this menu and select buttons and frames to match the background image somewhat and/or change the font and/or color of the font for both the title and thumb text. I deselect number thumbnails and just replace the thumbnail text with numbers. I select one song for all menus (I use the ones that came with Dazzle DVD Complete. Ulead's music sux big time.) And I'm left with a very nice looking authored DVD--much quicker than with Ulead's Workshop, particularly when inserting chapter points. This looks much better than having just a background image with a play button.
