    Does anyone know if this model can play SVCD and VCD on CDR media and DVD-r's

    If not, I guess I will be the first to post my experiences next week.

    When I was looking for a DVD Recorder I checked out the Philips 880 and the Panny E30 by taking a vcd and svcd to the store with me and I can confirm that the E30 played both.

    Sorry, Ive misread your model Number - just noted the 30. I tried to remove this post but unfortunately dont know how!!!!!

    According to Panny's site...the XP30 plays DVD, DVD-R, VCD, MP3 and WMA...doesn't mention SVCD..but people say Panny's info is never 100% accurate.
