  1. Hi,

Not wanting to create a huge argument, but I have two computers one athlon 1800XP (1.53mhz) and a 1.5 Pentium4.

I'm using the pentium in a server role, so a a little reluctant to to install the codecs and software etc. on it,

    But...

Will I get faster encoding times on the P4 than the Athlon????

Looks like the Athlon wins, hands down!

  3. Depends on your other hardware i guess. I have used AMD for several years, but have recently swithched to P4 2.4 ghz and the P4 i think is faster on converting avi 2 mpg on my machine than my AMD 2400+ counter part, and the P4 has the nice feature of not making any noise in comparison to the cooler for the AMD

  4. I have always used AMD and will continue to do so. The only way I would use a Pentium is if someone gave it to me but that is just my opinion. Unless things have changed drastically, AMD always wins hands down running head to head with Pentium and is also cheaper to replace.

  5. This discussion can go on for years, all i said was based on my experience. He asked i answered. The Pentium vs. AMD is a futile discusion.

  6. Thanks for answers, I guess my real question was specificaly using TEMPGenc and Vdub etc. which processor is quicker?

Which I guess the Athlon is, which is the answer that I wanted, so I'll carry on using the Athlon.

Like I said I didn't want to create a huge argument, just some ppl's expenience

    Thanks
