I recently purchased some Optodisc DVD-Rs and burned them with a Sony DRU-500A (1.0f). They read fine right after the burn in my Toshiba SM1612 DVD-ROM, but now no more than 2 weeks after the fact, I can no longer read them in the DVD-Rom (and a friend of mine who I gave a disc to and could also initally read it cant anymore). They, luckily, could still be read by my DRU-500A and I happened to have enough space to pull all my vital data off and store it. My questions are: ONE, has anyone else noticed this? and TWO, has anyone tried the new Memorex 50 pack DVD-Rs? (last time I buy media that I cant purchase in the local compUSA or Bestbuy).

EDIT:Also (I just remembered this), I recalled that when I first opened the disk packs that the disks had a weird organic chemical smell to them, and continue to smell a bit, though it is getting less pronounced with time. Furthermore, the first 2-3 disks would burn at 2x in Nero (~30 minutes), but after that, even though Nero would say that it was burning at 2x, the discs would burn at 1x (~1hour). Please, if you think Im crazy, tell me so, or if you think Im right, tell me to. But please, someone say something! (Im gonna go buy some Memorex, TDK, or Verbatim DVD-R whenever they get into stock)
