Hello!
I've been quite successful in splitting normal DVD-9 movies to 2 disks using IfoEdit but one backup in particular seems to have some odities. It is an 1/2 hour per episode british comedy series, 6 episodes per disk. After editing the split disk the way I normally do for any DVD-9 movie I notice the following:
1. The edited program WILL NOT preview inside IfoEdit.
2. The edited program WILL play after being burned to DVD-RW but is missing the ability to use any menu options other than "play all episodes" (3 of 6 per disk). *Note - I get a fatal error using WinDVD when I attempt to access the two other menu options ("episode selection" & "scene selection").
Is it possible by looking at the following DVD-9 VTS Overview that you may be able to advise what different steps may be required when editing the files (as opposed to a standard movie) in IfoEdit?

I basically use what I learned from the following sites:
http://www.doom9.org/mpg/ifoedit-2dvdrs.htm
http://www.ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com/splitdvd.html
If more info would be helpful please advise.

You may have to adjut the chapter pointers manually....
Or it may be that each menu selection leads to a different PGC, in which case you would have to re link them....
Ok, looking over the info you provided, it does look as though the PGC's lost thier pointer....I will look around more when I get home and see if I can find any way to edit them.... -
Thanks for the interest Don2050.
A little something I can add is regarding the chapters in the VIDEO_TS.IFO. I usually use the following sites http://www.ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com/splitdvd.html suggestion and adjust the number manually in IfoEdit but with this one it shows 6 chapters before and after the DVD split. To me it seems that it is just reading the number of chapters in the first PGC. My guess is that it is correct to keep it at this value because the actual number of chapters is NOT changing per PROGRAM unlike when splitting an actual movie that is contained within only one PROGRAM.
Sorry about rambling...just want to be reassured as to my thinking.

I will check into it further this weekend... I had to hunt for PGC pointers in the menu some time before and will see if I can locate them....but check throughout the menu VTS.IFO -
Hi Don2050!
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you but I have been quite indisposed.
I have racked my brain all day in an attempt to make sense of the IFO files and any related pointers but am unfortunately coming up with nothing conclusive. The closest I see that may have any relation would be the values located within the PTT_SRPTI of the VTS_01_0.IFO and the ones located within the VGM_PTT_SRPT of the VIDEO_TS.IFO. So, I guess I'm at a stalemate with regards to this backup until I can get further info from a brain a we bit more knowledgeable than mine.
Thanks again for your input!

Golem
