    Hi All,

I'm trying to convert some old VHS tapes to MPEG2 [DVD] format.

I've done a test capture using VirtualDub following the steps outlined in the capture guides, and the avi looks good.

I captured at low quality settings [352 x 480, PicVideo MJPEG with a quality of 20]. The resultant 1 hour capture had a frameloss of 7.

Playback of the avi was fine, w/o any noticeable audio/sync problems.

Now, when I try to encode the avi to MPEG1 using TMPGENC VCD Template, [for testing purposes since this would only take about 35-40mins on my PC], the resulting MPEG1 file plays back ok for the first 8 minutes, and then it goes black w/o picture or audio.

The avi plays back the entire 1 hour episode. What do I need to do to be able to convert beyond this 8 minute mark?

    Thanks!

    Hi Tommy,

I forgot to put that information in.

My directshow setting is currently = 10, and I have all of the codecs [divx, nimopack] installed.

Just ran the check in VirtualDub as you suggested, and it came back with 0 bad frames.

And your Nimo Codecs installed, and Source Range is not activated?

Played around with it some more, and finally just uninstalled the Nimo Codecs.

Once I uninstalled Nimo, it solved the encoding problem in Tmpgenc.
