  1. I have an AVI movie that is widescreen format. When I tried to make it into SVCD with TMPGenc it made it fullscreen and it looked weird. How do I set it so that the SVCD is made widescreen??

Click>Settings> advance>Video Arrange Method > Select Full Screen(keep aspect ratio)

If using Wizard click on other settings and follow from advance> Video arrange method> Full Screen(keep aspect ratio)
May the force be with you.

  3. And if the original is anamorphic widescreen (i.e. squashed), then set the source size to 16:9.

  4. Set the aspect to 4:3, which on your avi is actually what it is, even though you have a widescreen affect with black bars on top and bottom. those black bars encoded into the avi are a part of your picture and that is why you must set it to 4:3 so it will not distort. also setting it to full screen(keep aspect ratio) is also correct and should be done as well.

Since your file is an AVI, set the Source aspect ratio to 1:1 (VGA) as DivX/AVI files are always 1:1 aspect ratio. :P
