Hi,
I just thought I would announce (as I am pretty sure no one else has covered this) that DVDx version 2.1 is out and it is REALLY good!!!! Ok, so it has no VBR function, but for the newbee it is amazing, very easy to use and produces results almost as good as the SVCDs I produce with CCE 2.50!!! It is also fast!

How fast is it, give details please eg size of avi and how long to produce final mpeg's???
Wher do you get it from?? -
I encoded an 85 min movie in approx 5 hours, this is from start to finish, with dvdx 2.0 it would take you more like 8 hours (i think:S). The source was UK pal (Shrek) and i encoded it to standard SVCD parameters.
I spent ages getting it but eventually i just found the link to the correct site via the VCDhelp tools link.
hope this helps, if u want n e more info then let me know m8
PS i still preferr DVD2SVCD & CCE because you can benefit from the VBR, but for noobees or ppl who want to encode a shart movie then DVDx 2.1 is ideal! -
You might want to try DVD2SVCD/CCE using CBR. Based on your setup you should get better than 1:1 encoding speed which will be significantly faster than the 5 hour DVDx results.

I can encode a SVCD in 3 hours from a DVD film of 106 minutes with
DVDX 2.0.
It appears this all depends on the speed of your CPU, we need to know this
when comparing results.
Run the resulting file through Tmemp VBR after encoding, works for me!,
reduces file size by five %.
Where can I get DVDX 2.1, anyone help?.
