  1. If you could, would you give up extras on a store sold dvd to have a better picture. No extras, trailers, behind the scenes, title song video, on-line junk.

I find my backups are just the movies.

I'm also finding that watching the "behind the scenes" kills the movies experience... for me anyway.

I don't want to know how they did it. I find while watching the movies I'm watching and thinking "yeah they did this this way" instead of just watching the movie.

    hey, more icons... cool. :icon14:

I like having the extras. I love having commentary, behind the scenes, and making of videos. It all adds to the movie experience for me. Plus is I really like a movie, then I want to be able to watch as much stuff as I can about it. The more extras, the happier I am to pay $19.95 for the movie. The less amount of extras, the more I'll wait for the price to drop to $9.48 at Walmart before I buy it, unless I just really want the movie.

I like the deleted scenes, but the rest of the extras is mostly crap.

Gotta agree with Marco33, but only if I really like the movie. Your average film I could care less about any of the extras. But something good I want the deleted scenes. One more thing, DVD Producers reading this page (heh) let me see the deleted scenes in place, not from a different menu... this is double true they they are 100% completed scenes that were just cut!

Lastly I have no love or hate for other extras... I pretty much ignore them.

  7. How about if they only could make single layer dvd's, would you then give up the extras for a better picture.

I'm trying to see if hollywood is actualy giving the masses what they want.

The picture can only get so good before you no longer notice the difference. I'd sacrifice picture quality for extras as long as the video didn't become grainy and look like a cheap VHS copy. Plus I'd only buy this DVD if it were $10 or less, because it is sounding less and less like a studio released DVD.

Some of the old dvd's I have, have a simple picture menu, chapter points and the trailer. That's it.

So, they did used to do it that way.

Oh I know that, just look at Batman, Batman Returns, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science.....and almost all of the early WB releases. BUt I think those were realeased withour extras because they wanted to hurry up and get the movies out on DVD to start making money on them, not to give the buyer the total movie experience with all the bells and whistles....too bad too, Deleted Scenes and Commentary for the Breakfast Club would rock!

  11. Apparently another (in other words better) version is coming out of the Breakfast Club. That movie rocked. Well it and Ferris Bueller

I usually watch the trailer once and never again, essentially making it a waste of space.
