I purchased a previously viewed DVD from a rental company up here by the name of Roger's video, kind of like a Canadian version of Blockbuster Video. The DVD itself is badly scratched so I'm making a back up of it. I follow ifoedit guide on dvd2dvdr.com to a tee and everytime I burn I get perfect Audio but the Video is all jumpy, pausing for a bit then jumping forward a lot, on and on. Is this something you've heard of before? Could it be in my transcoding process?
I've now wasted 3 blanks on this and I don't want to waste anymore if I can avoid it. Any suggestions for me? Thanks in advance.

You should try to use software player like WINDVD or PowerDVD from hard disk too see if it play fine. Iit is probably the dvd media that your recorded that is a problem.

I used Cineplayer to view it on my computer and that's how it came out. I used the Pioneer DVD-R blank that came with my DVR05A and I don't think it's considered "cheap" media, as far as I know.

ok here is a slight solution I bought some nice looking dvdr's made by choice! when I've burned my dvd to it it sort of plays ok up until..... well it jumps & then continues playing but on the pc its fine!! so I put this down to media as all of the choice disks do the same that I have burned off so I burned it to a traxdata disk & well U can guess it works. Some times its media sometimes its just down to bad encoding, did U know that dvd2dvd2 cant handle NTSC & U need to use pulldown to fix the frame rate???? best idea is to re encode with tmpeg or even jsut buy a copy of dvd2one as this works a treat & its fast with very little difference if any in quality..

Sorry guys, as it turns out it was the playback that I was using. Sonic Cineplayer. It's not all jumpy with PowerDVD. Plays perfectly.
Can you say "uninstall Cineplayer"? :P
