My new Sony u10a should arrive later today, I知 totally new to the DVD scene so I thought id make sure I'm on the right lines. The mains uses of my DVDRW will be backup of Data and DVD copies for personnel use on my home player.

From what I've gathered this is what I need to do for a DVD to DVD-/+r

"Rip" the Data using DVD encrypter to my HDD, if its fits on 1 4.7 DVD, burn straight onto the media, if it doesn稚 use DVD2ONE to take out the unneeded languages etc to make the vobs less than 4.7 GB, then burn to the media.


Onto the point of media, I'm a bit lost on the -r/+r, I understand that these are 2 different standards; I知 not sure which I should use seeing as I can do both. My Toshiba sd220e can do either/or as far as I知 aware, is this correct? I知 swaying towards -r media, I can understand speeds ok, but brand and generation confuse me. What is the difference between generation 3 and 4? Will cheap Generation 4's be better than branded generation 3痴?

At this moment in time in swaying towards BulkPaq -r Generation 4 2x Media. Should these work with my SYSTEM? I realise it can do 4x but cost is always an issue for me

Has anyone here tried this 2 together?
