  1. is there a way to put black bars on top, bottom and sides to shrink a video in tmpegenc.

i can't only have a letterbox because the video becomes squashed.

  2. What is teh source video aspect ratio and what settings are you using in TMPGEnc?

You can fool around with the Advanced Settings in TMPGEnc, mainly the Source Aspect ratio anf the Video Arrange Method and also the Aspect Ratio under the Video Tab to change the "height" of the output video. Just encode short clips and see what they look like until you get one that works.

If you really want to add black borders on all four sides, you could use the resize (I think that is what it is called ) filter in VirtualDub and frameserve it to TMPGEnc to encode to VCD. Use the guides at the left if you need help with VirtualDub and/or frameserving.

  3. i tried all the source aspect ratio but it is default at VGA 1:1 because it's a divx file. i still can't get the video to shrink proportionately.

the subtitles for the divx file are located on the lowest portion of the video, so with overscanning, they are cut off.

i'll try virtualdub and report back if something happens.

  4. Choose "center keep aspect ratio" and that will add black bars around the MPEG as needed. Or choose "full screen keep aspect ratio"

  5. i tried "center keep aspect ratio" but the video bacame bigger and focused only on the center part cutting off around 40% of the video.

i already tried "full screen keep aspect ratio" before but it only flattens the video on top and bottom.
