I want to get the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on DVD but they only have it as a region 2 dvd.. it won't play in my dvd player....

Is it possible to copy it and remove the region restriction, so i can play the copy in my region 1 dvd player?

if so, is there a tutorial?

As far as i know if you rip your DVD and burn a copy, when copy will always be region free because it is not possible to record region info onto dvdr. For guide search this forum.

Don't bother with buying a Region 2 copy, it's out on DVD for Region 1. Buy.com has it for $25 with free shipping.

  4. There are guides about (do a search here and at doom9.org) but basically:

    1) Rip entire DVD to HD
    2) Run IFOEdit
    3) Click on 'make region free'
    4) Burn

It's really that simple (esp if the DVD is single layer). If dual layer just re-encode/spilt as normal and then change region if necessary (if re-author from re-encode there will be no region).

I am not sure if this is true. Isn't there something inside IFO (or some) files that will check if your player will match region ? Otherwise why would IfoEdit have "make region free" button ? I believe it is some kind of "software checking".

  6. You can watch a region 2 DVD on your HP 200i if you change the firmware to a region free one and install DVD Region Killer.

  7. I bought my Region 1 copy of HHG2G just after it came out last April. I bought it locally at Music Warehouse, but you can also find it online:

Most of my standards conversion has been due to the lack of availability in the U.S. of BBC titles. I don't know if it is a trend, but more and more seem to be coming to America. The most recent one I had been considering buying to convert was the first season of Coupling. But it was recently released over here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000797E5/qid%3D1044563112/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%...908774-9819243). If they keep this up, I won't have to convert anything!

The region code prevents playing, not reading.

DVD Decrypter will rip any region, then u make the change.
