  1. just looking to make my files after converation with tmpgenc a little smaller

    i have been convering vcd's for a while and am looking just to lower the mpeg file size but not to cut the quality of the movie to much!!!

    Use multi-pass VBR for your encoding method. It will take twice as long, but your file size will be reduced.

    You can also try CQ Encoding, which uses VBR (Variable Bit Rate) encoding, using a single pass. You end up with a smaller file, at the risk of some degredation in quality on high motion scenes. Note, I said 'risk', as chances are, you may not even notice a difference. Try it for yourself to see if your satisfied with the result.
