SONY DVD+/-R/RW- Am I Ok with this set up. And what is the best type media all around, DVD+R or DVD-R? I mainly bought this DVD ReWriter because it does both. Then I saw a post that had a rebate which ended a day before I bought itAnyways, here is my set up:
AMD Duron 800mhz
ATI AIW Pro128 32MB
Win ME
12GB free on the HD
192MB RAM
I haven't even hooked this puppy up yet. I have spending time trying to increase the amount of space available on the hard drive until I get an additional one. I have only captured MPEG1 with the ATI AIW. I have tried other times to capture MPEG2, however, the only software I have that will play it is PowerDVD. Windows gives the MPEG2 files an "sound" icon instead of a "windows media" icon which is strange.

I have reduced my HD space to over 14 GB. I may end up increasing the memory to 512 MB of RAM and getting possibly a 1.2Ghz Atholon. I hope with all these additions, I will be able to capture MPEG2 at 720x440 without any loss of frames. I notice that I will lose anywhere from 20 to 29% frames when I try to capture with the template set at 720x440 with a constant bit rate at 8.0 Mbits per sec and the performance at 100.
