  1. 1) Is there any real benefit in converting a VCD to SVCD once the file is already encoded as mpeg-1? Is anything lost in changing the resolution?

    2) Isn't the file supposed to get larger when changing to mpeg-2? I tried this with Tmpgenc and the size stayed the same even though it said the header for SVCD was being written. I had done this before and the file roughly doubled but that is not the case now.

Converting from VCD to SVCD is less than pointless.

The mpeg-1 file is low resolution and low bit rate compared to an SVCD. The only real options is to re-encode the original.

  3. Given an .avi file, would that be considered as a source and then encoded to a SVCD rather than VCD?
