I just burnt a 65 minute SVCD to a 90 min CDR....but when i put it in my DVD player......it plays with...what can only be described as ....dropouts....the cdr recorded fine....at 6x using a ricoh 7060A...

When i recorded the second half of the movie, instead of recording it at 6x i recorded it at 4x.....and the problems went away...no dropouts at all

but they both burnt successfully?...so whats the differance?.....

Does burning at lower speed give deeper pits? or do a better burn in some other way?.....if i verify the first disk.....no problem it has been cut properly according to the writer....but the DVD player seems to be able to read the 4x burn much better than a 6x burn

    any comments?

  2. This seems to be the problem with many DVD players. The best way is to burn at 4x speeds when making video CD-r's. It would be great if you could burn at 16x and have the same reliablility when playing it back on all players...

  3. I have no problems burning at 12x and playing them on my DvD player. The quality sucks but that's due to my source.

  5. Well i burn at 2X and i seem to get a better picture than i would if i was to burn at a higher speed. I can personally notice a huge difference in the movies when i do the 2x speed.
