Does any one know how to rip DVD subtitles to a text (*.ssa; *.sub; ...) file that can be edited with any subtitle editor?
I ask this because when I rip any DVD to a VCD, the subtitles appear with bad definition, where every letter look like a *.bmp image with bad definition.
thanks,

subrip does the job quite nicely. I prefer .ssa, and then use the subtitler filter in VirtualDub (or AVISynth) to add the subtitles before encoding.
Piece of cake!
