I trying to backup the first disc of Band of Brothers (which I got for Christmas) to two DVD-Rs using the DVD-9 to 2 DVD-5 guide to the left. After ripping (using DVD Decryptor) I go to IfoEdit >> VOB Extra Option and select Split to 2 DVD-Rs, Create Subfolders Disc1 & Disc2 (in addition to the other default options). I then hit >> ok and get >> Stream List. I select as the split point PGC1[Ch07][Pg07][Cell07][Pos01:13:08.8] and then I hit split it. So after an hour or so I go to the new folders Disc1 and Disc2. Apparently both PGC1 and PGC2 are split to the Disc1 folder which contains over 6-GB. The Disc2 folder gets very few files. I've done this three times now with the same result. What am I missing here?

TV episode disks usually contain omly one ifo file to control the entire disk. They do not use invidual ifo's for each episode. You would be better served by ripping each episode to it's own directory and then authoring the number of episodes that will fit on a DVD-R. The number will vary depending on whether you transcode to a lower bitrate.

I recently backed up all 5 DVD's for Band of Brothers. I used DVD2DVD-R. Here is what I did:

    1. Use DVD2DVD-R on each PGC. Each PGC is between 55 - 115 minutes. I reduced the total file size by setting the MB RESERVED between 2000 -2100 for each PGC.

    2. I played the menu file for each movie (0.vob) and captured each menu as a .BMP file using POWERDVD.

    3. I saved the THEME music from the menu file. This was about 10 minutes long. Using CoolEdit2000 I reduced this down to 1 minute .WAV file.

    4. Using Maestro I IMPORT MEDIA ASSESTS for each PGC (.m2v & .mp2), .BMP for the menu and .WAV for theme.

    5. I created 2 MOVIES & a menu from the assests.

    6. Compiled

    7. Burn DVD

I must say the end results are EXCELLENT!
