Several posts here claim the Mintek DVD-1600 can play SVCDs. It also states that in the compatibility chart although I'm aware of the disclaimer that the chart was made from claims of users of these Forums. Mine can't. VCD 2.0 no problem. An email reply from Mintek Digital Tech Support claims NO Mintek products are SVCD compatible and there are no plans for a firmware update. Is there a hack that makes them SVCD compatible? A menu setting I'm missing? Please help if you can. Thanks.

You need to use the vcd header trick in order to play svcds on mintek 1600. You can find the guide under the How To: Convert menu. Good luck!

sctele,
Thanks for the info. Could you give a little more on where to look in the How To: Convert area? There's a lot of stuff there. How to convert what to what? Sorry, but I could browse there for weeks and still not find it. A little more info would be appreciated. Thanks.
