  1. Everybody check out the PersonalCinema line of cards coming out next month @ http://www.nvidia.com
Multiple inputs, a built in tuner and variable mpeg & mpeg2 capture. And starting at just $150, Life is sweet!!!

From the looks of it's pvr functionality I assume that it can encode mpeg2 on the fly like a tivo. This spells great things for my svcd collection.

  5. Been to Site 10 minutes ago, found NOTHING on these so called cards coming out, went everyplace on nvidia's web site. Still can't believe for $150 your gonna get a MPEG2 encoder with imputs and outputs.
Plus before nvidia was God, VooDoo 3FDX blew their Ass off. It takes a $500 Nvidia gforce card to outrun my $200 VooDoo 5500 AGP card.

It doesn't seem to be a true capture device. It looks like its just a tv->vga converter.

A review can be found here...

  8. I just read the review and it does appear to be a capture device and an attempt at a PVR implementation, though it looks like the software is not up to par when it comes to timeshifting.

It is also not clear from the review whether the MPEG2 compression is taking place in software or hardware.

    ATI better at Video/TV/Capture combo.

NVIDIA better at gaming, 3D acceleration.

    Case closed.

  12. Maximum PC for Sept 01--puts it in there Entertainment dream PC for 01---They don't speak of the capture specifics but they are high on this product--I searched for info on this product after reading the article--not much out there and the AnandTech review finds problems with things that should be fixed for release(review bummed me out a bit) while looking I also found this--"It will be available in the fall of this year and from VisionTek and Compro Technology." --from Tom's Hardware aug 29

  13. @homerpez "ATI better at Video/TV/Capture combo."

Yes, maybe the card itself is better, but the MUST WORK ON THE DRIVERS!!!
I've got an ATI Radeob VE (you know this one with dualview) running under Windows NT 4.0 SP6.
I have tryed every driver but every driver let my system hang up!
Many versions are hanging if I capture with VirtualDub.
Many don't support OpenGL (Quake3, CS, Unreal Tournament doesn't wokr with the driver type)
Now I have found a driver wich supports capturing with VirtualDub and supports OpenGL but the system hangs always if I'm writing texts in forums or if I want to play on networkparys.
3 Days after I bought the card I have called the support, but it did't know an answer to the problem, they wanted to write me a mail. This was now more than 2 Month ago. No new driver was released, and I never got a mail.

So tomorrow I will kill the card and buy a Asus V7100Pro with the new Conextant TV-Encoder wich supports DualView als 1024x786 and also supports TvTool
NVidia has driverproblems, too, but I have several drivers wich work without problems! And the 2D power is much bigger too (around 100 000 000 Pixels/Second tested with WinBench). The card will be much faster in Quake than the ATI (The V7100Pro has HighQuality RAM with 4.8ns and the MX400 Chipset!!!)

  14. TKsoft - The Radeon VE doesn't support what you are attempting in NT4. Did you do even a minimal amount of research before you purchased the card? This will often reduce the amount of fustration associated with these types of situations.

  15. I have seen this list!
And the Display Driver is avaible for NT! The only things which are not supported are Hydravision™
Software(See on screen1 an other picture than on screen2), ATI DVD Player (I haven't gor a DVD-Player, and I'll never use the ATI-Player), ATI Multimedia Center.

Also the Display Driver do exist. So it must work WITHOT SYSTEM HANGS!!!

What should I do with the card? Drive mit a car over it, or should I put it into my microwave?

I don't know what I'll do, but it was the last ATI I have bought!!!
