  1. Hi there,

If I decide to capture to avi using VDub or any other software, does the capture card play any role in the capture quality or are they all the same when capturing through software ?

  2. As far as I know, if your card supports VFW drivers, then just about any software capturing program will support it.

  3. the only thing that matters is driver support
AT TV wonder can only do 640x480 in win98se, WinTv cards have that kind of support in win2k and WinXP.

im using a WinTV in WinXP with VFW drivers working perfectly

  4. Go buy a Hauppuage WINTV GO PCI card for $49, I have used one for 2 years they work great as long you only want to capture 352x240 VCD, forget about 480x480 SVCD.
I use virtualdub and get no frame drops, now I only need to capture about 5 minutes at a time so I use Uncompressed AVI which results in great looking AVI but at 300MB a minute. But my finished Music Video in MPEG1 VCD looks fantastic. If you plan to capture long AVI's 30-60 min. you will need to capture in some compressed codec like DIVX.

  5. Well, like i've said before, if your card has VFW drivers, you should be able to use atleast 90% of all capturing programs in the market today, and if you have a good chipset on your TV/Capture card, you can propably use 100% of all capture programs.
