  1. I was given a box of Memorex DVD-R disk for x-mass and had successes in using on my Panasonic DMR-HS2, but they would lock up my older RCA DVD TV-Top player if there were more than two programs on the DVD disk. I had also purchased a box of ten DVD-R Memorex that were not opened. I decided to take those back and exchange for something different. I was in need of a DVD burner for backing up my files from both my Mac and PC. I purchased the Sony DRX-500UL and decided to try the Memorex DVD-RW for storage. My first Memorex DVD-RW disk did not give an error, but the two after both produced errors. I am planning to exchange the Memorex DVD-RW for a different brand of RW. If I exchange at Bestbuy, I will have the option for Fuji, Maxell, Verbatim, or Phillips. What brand of disk seem to work best on what is listed from Bestbuy? Could it be it is something besides the Memorex or are others having problems with Memorex?

    Thanks,
    Mark
I use both Mac and PC. Mac: G4 Power Book 1GHz w/1GHz ram PC:1GHz w768 both have large SCSI/Fire Wire HD

Perhaps the burners you guys use just don't like Memorex media. As Memorex CD-R/DVD-R media is excellent.

I have a Pioneer DVR-104 DVD-RW drive and the few memorex DVD-RWs that i've bought, burned and played great. And continued to do so even after i've erased&reburned on them many times.

As for CD-Rs,these white labeled memorex CDRs are just perfect. They are the only CD-R brand i've ever bought and they have always worked and played great.

There was a new post yesterday (Feb. 14) asking which media people have had trouble with. There were a lot of complaints (including mine) about memorex cd-rw's!!

memorex has been all the time very good media because they used before, if made in japan, tayio yuden recording dye.....
but now everywhere in usa are memorex made in taiwan, but made by cmc magnetics(the cheapest manufacturer for all cheap media you can buy) so from now on you be aware of these memorex...they are fake.....
I talked to memorex marketing manager and he said he doesn't know about it but careful...they know very well...
if they used cheap cmc magnetics recording lye...you can find out with cd speed 1.02, return it...they are fake.....
buy only memorex made in JAPAN...with tayion yuden dye, recorging dye 1, long strategy,
don't buy memorex made in TAIWAN...with cmc magnetics, short strategy, recording dye 6

always use cd speed 1.02....it will let you know...what you bought
