When I convert avi to mpg, the sound in the mpg does not match with the video (the person talks, then a few seconds later, I hear it). This is annoying me a lot, i cannot get any conversions right, can anyone help me fix this problem?

Try doing what it says here
http://www.vcdhelp.com/virtualdubaudio.htm
Then re-multiplex with TMPGenc

I've been fighting that problem for a month. Not sure if its TMPG or my Apex660. Do a search on
' out of sync' and read all about it. -
This is a synch problem...
the audio might be 48Khz, but should be 44.1Khz,
or vice versa...
and..
the frame rate is 29.97fps but, should be 23.97
flip-flop etc..
this is what causes a synch failure.
If you were to open the file in a Non- Linear Editor,
like Premier or Vegas Video, you would see that
the files are of differnt lenth on the timeline,
when they should be the same lenth.
