    I don't know if this is news or not but I found this.
    Latest version of my bitrate calculator v1.0.04.
    Cap and Author 6+ hours to a DVD-R with AIW.

    If you read it carefully it sounds more like new firmware to be able to use 4x media in the drive but it says nothing about burning at 4x. Probably burning 2x on 4x media.

    Yes, I realize that now. The co-worker that told me about it and sent me the link speaks very broken english. When my eyes were as big as saucers and I asked 'you can write at 4X?' he said yes.

    I have no 4x media, do not experience any problems with the drive, am still using the original firmware and didn't intend on installing the firmware so I didn't look that deep into it.
