  1. ok i have been using dvdcryptor to rip just the movie down and then ifoedit to make all the vob and ifo file changes etc etc..

it has worked well lately and allot of movies fit nicely on one dvd and its great, but

what do i do when one is just a little to big, like 4.5 or 4.6 gig, nero wont burn it, how do i get it just a little smaller so it fits

    thanks

im used to overburning on cdr's lol, nero wont do it on dvd lol

so whats the procedure with tmpg, i have to use dvd2avi to get mtv files and then convert to dvd

but then its still two large a file for nero to burn with the dvd method so how u get it in dvd format for player

  4. To try to get a movie down to size without reencoding, you can:

Strip out the extras, menus, logos, extra audio tracks, cut out the credits, etc.

If it still doesn't fit or you rather keep menus or whatever, then you can do one of 2 things:

    1) split to 2 DVDR
    2) reencode (compress)/transode with TMPGenc, REMpeg, CCE, etc.)

There are plenty of guides here and at doom9.org detailing the processes.

There are some programs that automate the process:

    DVD2SVCD
    DVD2DVDR
    DVD X
    DoItFast4u & DoItFaster4Me
    DVDXcopy
    ReDVD

Most of these programs require the use of other programs which may be free, commercial, or unavailable such as TMPGenc, CCE, Rempeg, Maestro, Scenarist, Subrip, ChapterXtractor, and others.

Have a look at the guide in my sig, you can skip the rip & strip bits. Start reading at frameserving and encoding, it may be of assistance

This is only for DVD9's that can not be reduced to a workable 4.7 (4.3 GB by ripping just the main movie or all of it if size willing, if so It is just a straight rip and burn with (DVDDecrypter), another good freeware program, or whatever program you prefer.
I have had great success with this method on DVD9to5. It is not all freeware but I have spent many nights and countless time on a lot of software and found this method flawless, if followed precisely, on each attempt. You have to decide for your self what works for you time, cost quality, ect. I have made many, many copy's of my DVD's and no costers since I started using this process. None of this is my software nor do I have any affiliation with the software providers I just know it makes great DVD's and it is all still available unlike most of the guides I tried that get you half way through the process and then you find out some of the software or other necessary component does not exist any more or costs an arm and a leg. 8)

  7. ok well i got everything but dazzle.. im still allot confused..

i have no problem ripping down with dvdcryptor, lets say blue crush or one of the other ones i cant remember was 4.5 or 6 and would not burn..

now i used ifoedit to convert and rename all the ifo and vob files but that was waste of time since it would not fit anyway i guess...

so i need to run dvd2avi i think, do i need to do just the video or and audio and have the big wave like i use to do with svcd's

i encoded one file with tmpg to a dvd quality mpeg 720 x 480 or whatever it was, quality was great but i still had problem of burning it cus it was over 2 gig file and nero would not just burn it using the dvd wizard, and i think i need all the ifo and bup files etc... as u can see i am little confused

i tried following the links posted in the thread, one did not work, bandwidth on angel city and the other i could not find the actual guide

    thanks for all help
